MORE THAN JUST A TRADING CARD GAME
Overthrow is a TCG being developed by BoltBlue. An app version is currently in development with plans for commercial release in 2023. Taking inspiration from other card games such as Munchkin & Triple Triad, this TCG at it’s foundation is a fun and competitive game all about strategic deck building.
ABOUT THE GAME
Overthrow is a TCG built around quick and exciting matches between 2 players. You build a 12 card deck that contains 5 unit cards and 7 combat cards.
Each player takes turns placing hexagonal units onto the field to try and overthrow their opponent. A seemingly simple battle system based on the highest number wins becomes very strategic and complex when you introduce combat cards that have interesting and powerful effects.
UNIT CARDS
Unit cards are the lifeblood of Overthrow. Every unit has been hand-drawn and is thoughtfully crafted into the Overthrow Universe. Each card has a number corresponding to each face of the hexagon. This is the cards’ base power level. In essence if you are attacking and you have a higher number you overthrow your opponent. If you are defending and you have equal or higher number then you successfully defend.
Every unit has three attributes that will affect what combat cards can or cannot be used on each unit. Common attributes are persuasive, strong, fast, brave, lucky and smart. Some characters may have rare attributes that make them very powerful if paired with the right combat cards.
COMBAT CARDS
Combat cards are the secret weapons you have up your sleeve in every battle. Your opponent may have higher attack than you, but a combat card may increase power by 2 for Lucky units. That card can turn the tide in battle.
With lots of interesting combat cards you will discover just how much strategy is required to win against a well-built deck by an experienced player.
